Think-Tank warns of new war
Experts see US and Israel in a new political game. They are desperate to "break Syria" from Iran as a way of putting pressure on Tehran to give up its hostility towards Israel.
This may be a diversion to keep Iranians busy and away from arming the Syrians with advanced weapons. In any new middle east war, only Iran is likely to fight back against attacks by Israel or US. Pentagon is said to be alarmed by the fighting in south Lebanon which ended in failure of the Israeli army. Syria had vowed to rebuild its army on Hezbollah's successful model. This scares Israel, and would do anyting to make peace with Syrians. It even offered Golan Heights unconditionally back to Syria for cutting all ties with Iran. It sees Syrian army as too weak and ill equipped. Gaza war was part of this time-buying games. As long as Syria does not become powerful like Iran, then Israel can always be free to make wars on its neighbours and keep the Tehran regime in check. Hezbollah is also prevented from obtaining weapons from Iran via Syria. Some anaylists claim tha if all this does not work and Iran begins arming and training the Syrians, then Israel would attack Syria in an all-out war to prevent Iran establishing itself on its border. This preperation may have already begun. Israel fears that once US forces are out of Iraq, nothing will stop Iran from taken a direct road to Damascus. Destruction of Syria in high on agenda of the new Israeli rightwing government. US Senators at behest of Israel are already visiting Syria to persuade it to end its relationship with the Islamic Republic.

Obama reluctant to close torture prisons:
President Obama has delayed closure of Guatanamo Bay for 12 months. How long does it take to fly 200 suspects to America? One Year!! Obama has also refused to issue any court orders against former torturers. No one will be tried for abusing prisorners at Guatanamo Bay, abu Ghraib, and other secret CIA jails, which he now wants to close down "in 12 months times." Carry on waterboarding in the mean time. Is this a great start?
